Mal 4:5-6

  2. 70 percent of all prisoners grew up without fathers.

  4. 71 percent of high school drop outs grew up without fathers. or had abusive fathers
  5. 63 percent of teen suicides grew up without fathers.
  6. 40 percent of all children born from single parents.
  7. I believe the number one social pathological problems stem from a lack of fathers.
  8. Financial cost is staggering: 52 billion in prisons, 8 billion in public assistance many being dropouts,
  9. Estimate of 300 billion is lost tax revenue as a result of drop out students.
  10. Word for Family is Patria. Pater means father. Central figure of the family is the father. Children get their names from fathers.
  11. An orphan was considered fatherless.


Ex 12:3-4

3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household.

  1. Priests are called fathers, fathers should be called priests.
  2. Before the Levitical priesthood, fathers were the spiritual leaders in Israel.
  3. Fathers should be the spiritual leaders in their homes.

Isa 3:12

2 Youths oppress my people,

women rule over them.

  1. Not an indictment on women or youth, but on men, because they failed to take their place in the homes.


1 Cor 11:12

3 Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

  1. Priests. Just as Christ must represent the Father to us, it is the husband who must represent Christ to his wife, and by implication to his family.
  2. Biologically, fathers determine the sexual identity of the children. Biblically, fathers determine the spiritually identity of the children.
  3. The greatest curse of our present age is fathers who have misrepresented God.

He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

Heb 13:15

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that confess his name.

  1. Take much more time thanking God for your family, because in so doing you create an atmosphere around them that makes it easy for them to succeed.
  2. Crushing spirits.

Eph 6:4

4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children;

  1. We only like to learn from people who we believe love us.
  2. If our children do not believe we are thankful to God for them, they will likely care the spirit of rejection.
  3. On the cross Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me.” It was not enough that Jesus mother was at the foot of the cross, it matter more that Jesus father had forsaken him.


  1. Making intercession

Job 1:4-5

 5 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.

a. Intercession involves claiming the benefits of Calvary’s sacrifice.

b. Critics: Job prayers did not work, his children die.

c. My example of praying for my children

c. God blessed him with twice as many animals, but only the same amount of sons and daughters, which meant he did not lose them for eternity, they greeted him in heaven.

Job 42:10

10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Job 42:12-13

12 The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters.


  1. Making the way for salvation

  1. Father’s cannot send their children off to church with the mothers and stay home and watch TV.

  1. it is not a child’s fault that they have not a father, nor is it necessarily the mother’s, for if
    we find fault and judge the fatherless, God judges us. Many were raised due to rape or unwillingness to abort. What about single fathers for whatever reason? Do we judge the absence of the mother. The article is legalistic in tone.
